The Scudder Falls (I-295) Toll Bridge’s Shared-Use Path (pedestrian-bicycle facility) was shut down 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, and is anticipated to remain closed until approximately 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24.
The closure will enable a Commission contractor to resurface the facility’s access ramp on the bridge’s Pennsylvania side.
Alternative river crossing points for bicyclists and pedestrians during the temporary closure period are:
- Calhoun Street Toll-Supported Bridge – 4.8 miles to the south;
- Washington Crossing Toll-Supported Bridge – 2.5 miles to the north.(Note: The walkways at these alternate river crossing points are significantly narrower than the 10-foot-wide Scudder Falls Shared-Use Path; bicyclists must dismount and walk their bikes across the walkways at these other two bridges.)
Uninterrupted Monday-to-Friday closures of the Scudder Falls Toll Bridge’s bike-ped facility are expected to continue through the fall.
