EWING, NJ – NJ Route 175/Upper River Road in Ewing Township will be closed to through traffic around-the-clock from Monday morning through Friday afternoon next week, the Delaware River Join Toll Bridge Commission announced today.
The road closure is need to allow for road construction/replacement work in the vicinity of where the short-distance, two-lane state highway crosses beneath an I-295 approach bridge to the nearby Scudder Falls Toll Bridge. The work will involve full-depth replacement of a large section of the roadway to correct a long-standing surface drainage issue. Additionally, there will be milling and repaving of the roadway for roughly 100 feet north and south of where it crosses beneath I-295.
The around-the-clock closure to through traffic will go into effect 6 a.m. Monday, June 7, and end 5 p.m. Friday, June 11. Access to local residents will be maintained from Route 29 to the north and County Route 634/West Upper Ferry Road to the south.
The repaving work is part of the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project, which began construction in May 2017 and on schedule to reach substantial completion in December of this year.
Note: The aforementioned travel restriction is subject to change due to weather, emergency, traffic, and equipment/materials mobilization considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
