The Northampton Street Toll-Supported Bridge (a.k.a. the Easton-Phillipsburg “free bridge”) is scheduled to be restricted to single vehicular lanes in each direction (two of three lanes open) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, May 4-8.

Vehicles will be required to shift into parallel opposing lanes of traffic on the bridge.

The daytime travel restriction will enable Commission engineering consultants to conduct ultra-sonic testing on the 130-year-old’s steel cantilever-truss superstructure’s pin connections.

Travel delays are not anticipated.

Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution while approaching and using the bridge.

The scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors.
