NEW HOPE, PA – The temporary courtesy shuttle service that operated during the recent shutdown of the New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge is scheduled to cease operations 11 p.m. Friday, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.

The shuttle service between the New Hope and Lambertville commercial centers was reinstituted on January 13 for an anticipated two-week-long bridge closure of the bridge’s walkway and road deck. The walkway was put back into service yesterday afternoon. The road deck is expected to reopen to Pennsylvania-bound vehicles within a few hours (mid-day Thursday, January 23).

Although the walkway is back in service, the shuttle service is operating with a single vehicle 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and tomorrow (Friday, January 24). The designated stops are:

  • New Hope loading/unloading stop: on the northbound side of North Main Street approximate to the park benches near the building that houses the PNC Bank and Starbucks Coffee.
  • Lambertville loading/unloading stop: the Pennsylvania-bound side of Bridge Street in the general area of the former Black River and Western Railroad crossing and the Princeton Bank building.

A one-way trip between the two stops is approximately 12 to 15 minutes. The shuttle minibus has a 20-passenger seating capacity. The vehicle is ADA accessible, capable of loading and transporting disabled people in wheelchairs. The vehicle can be configured to carry up to four wheelchairs, with a corresponding reduction of four passenger seats for each wheelchair. (Note: The minibus exceeds the 4-ton gross vehicle weight restriction on the New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge, the free crossing linking the riverfront towns’ commercial centers. For this reason, the shuttle must travel across the toll bridge immediately north of New Hope and Lambertville.)
