NEW HOPE, PA – The New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge reopened to Pennsylvania-bound vehicular traffic approximately 12:15 p.m. today – Thursday, Jan. 23 – four days ahead of schedule.

The bridge remains closed to New Jersey-bound traffic with a posted detour via the non-toll northbound direction on the New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge one mile to the north.

The 120-year-old truss bridge linking the New Hope and Lambertville commercial centers was shut down to vehicular and pedestrians crossing on Jan. 13 so workers and engineers could carry out an unprecedented repair of a severely deteriorated structural connection. The full bridge closure was scheduled to last until January 27, but the bridge’s walkway reopened yesterday and the road deck reopened to its previous PA-bound-only configuration today.

The Commission currently anticipates that the bridge will once again carry two-way traffic sometime in mid-February.

A comprehensive bridge rehabilitation of the120-year-old bridge began in late January 2024, but aspects of that work were stymied by the discovery of a severely deteriorated structural connection in late summer. With the repair of the structural joint completed, the rehabilitations project’s uncompleted tasks are now expected to be completed by the spring.
