A utility project will prevent New Jersey-bound motorists from crossing the Northampton Street Toll-Supported Bridge (a.k.a. the Easton-Phillipsburg “free bridge”) during over night hours — 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. — starting Monday, March 24, and continuing on weeknights for up to one week.

The travel restriction is needed so an Elizabethtown Gas contractor — Skoda Construction — can replace aging gas mains and connections on the Phillipsburg side of the bridge. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT A COMMISSION PROJECT)

Affected NJ-bound motorists are advised to cross into Phillipsburg via the non-toll eastbound direction on the nearby Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) Toll Bridge.

PA traffic is expected to be able to continue crossing the Northampton Street Bridge while utility work takes place.
