EWING, NJ – A short section of the Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath on the New Jersey side of the Scudder Falls Bridge is scheduled to close for five days and nights beginning Monday, April 9, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.
The scheduled towpath closure is needed to ensure public safety with the placement of heavy equipment and installation of steel girders for a new approach bridge and ramp structures at the I-295/Route 29 interchange (old Exit 1, new Exit 76).
Towpath access will be blocked beginning around 6 a.m. Monday, April 9, continuing without interruption until 6 p.m. Friday, April 13.
The aforementioned closure period is subject to change due to weather and other considerations.
Pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to exercise caution when traveling along the canal near or through work areas for the duration of the 4-1/2-year-long bridge replacement project.
