EWING, NJ – Overnight roadway and ramp closures with posted detours are scheduled to be implemented again next week along portions of the sprawling I-95/Route 29 interchange (Exit 1) on the New Jersey side of the Scudder Falls Bridge, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.
The travel restrictions at the interchange are needed to allow for the lifting and installation of steel girders for the first span of the new bridge that is under construction to replace the current, functionally obsolete Scudder Falls Bridge.
Four traffic movements at the interchange will be affected 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) from Monday, Feb. 19 through Friday, Feb. 23: Route 29 southbound traffic through the interchange; Route 29 northbound traffic to I-95 southbound; I-95 southbound traffic exiting to Route 29 southbound; and I-95 northbound traffic exiting to Route 29 northbound. The full list of travel restrictions within the 4.4-mile-long project area for the week of February 18 is as follows:
New Jersey side
- Route 29 interchange – Overnight ramp and roadway closures with posted detours at four locations 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 23; AND single lane patterns in each direction on Route 29 in project area 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and restricted ramp widths 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, to Friday, Feb. 23.
- Route 175/River Road – Intermittent alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, to Friday, Feb. 23.
Pennsylvania side
- I-95 north from the Route 332/Newtown-Yardley interchange (Exit 49) to the Scudder Falls Bridge – Intermittent single-lane travel patterns 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 23.
- I-95 south from the Scudder Falls Bridge to the Route 332/Newtown-Yardley interchange (exit 49) – Intermittent single-lane travel patterns 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. (next day) Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 23.
- Taylorsville Road in vicinity of I-95 – Intermittent single-lane patterns 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, to Friday, Feb. 23.
- Woodside Road (west of Taylorsville Road) – Intermittent single-lane patterns 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, to Friday, Feb. 23.
- River Road/Route 32 – Intermittent alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, to Friday, Feb. 23.
Weekends: Overnight roadway and ramp closures with posted detours are scheduled along portions of the I-95/Route 29 interchange (Exit 1) from 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, to 6 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18. No other project-related lane closures currently are scheduled for Feb. 17-18 and Feb. 24-25.
The aforementioned scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergency, traffic, and equipment/materials mobilization considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and to reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
