The Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Toll-Supported Bridge directly connects New Jersey Route 12/Bridge Street in Frenchtown, Hunterdon County, N.J. with Pennsylvania Route 32/River Road in the Uhlerstown section of Tinicum Township, Bucks County, PA. The plate-connected Warren-truss structure was designed by Edwin W. Denzler and erected in 1931 through funds jointly provided by New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It replaced a former bridge consisting of four covered wooden spans dating from late 1843 and two steel-truss replacement spans erected after the October 1903 “Pumpkin Flood.”
The Commission has owned the bridge since July 1, 1987. As part of a rehabilitation project largely conducted in 2025, the Commission outfitted the bridge with an LED lighting system to better highlight the structure’s architectural profile. It is the third Commission bridge to be fully outfitted with an architectural lighting system.
