EWING, N.J. – Paving work and construction of highway-median barriers is expected to continue next week along I-295 in the 4.4-mile-long Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project area, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.
Motorists travelling in the Pennsylvania-bound direction on I-295 northbound in New Jersey could encounter delays Monday through Friday as temporary single-lane travel restrictions extend into evening peak commuting periods – as late as 4 p.m.
Also in New Jersey, various overnight ramp closures are scheduled to be implemented in the vicinity of the I-295/NJ Route 29 interchange’s two roundabouts 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) on Monday, Oct. 18, and Tuesday, Oct. 19.
Paving work is expected to take place later in the week along the NJ Route 29 southbound bypass roadway, which has been closed to traffic since March 2020. If all goes as planned, the Route 29 southbound lane, which bypasses the roundabouts on both sides of the I-295/Route 29 interchange (Exit 76) could reopen to traffic on or about Oct. 25.
In Pennsylvania, a one-day closure of Woodside Road between PA Route 32/River Road and the park-n-ride lot near Taylorsville Road is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Oct. 20. This closure will allow for the hoisting and installation of a pre-fabricated pedestrian bridge superstructure across the Delaware Canal.
The full schedule of possible project-related travel restrictions for the week of Oct. 17 are as follows:
