PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – Construction activities for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s I-78 Bridges and Approach Slabs Rehabilitation Project will resume after the Memorial Day holiday weekend travel period ends Tuesday evening, May 29.
The full schedule of project-related travel restrictions is as follows:
I-78 Eastbound (NJ) – In the vicinity of the approach bridge that carries I-78 east across Route 519 in Pohatcong, N.J. (mileposts 2.3 to 2.4)
- Two of three lanes closed OFFPEAK 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (next day) Tuesday, May 29, through Thursday, May 31;
- One lane closed 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, to Monday, June 4.
I-78 Westbound (NJ) – In the vicinity of the approach bridge that carries I-78 west across the on-ramp from Routes 22 and 173 to I-78 east in Pohatcong Township
- Single-lane travel pattern (two of three lanes westbound closed) starting 10 p.m. Friday, June 1, and continuing without interruption until 7 a.m. Monday, June 4. Expect severe backups and delays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3.
The scheduled travel restrictions listed above are subject to change due to weather, emergency, traffic, and project mobilization considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, to reduce speeds, and to exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
