LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA – A portion of Woodside Road will be closed to westbound traffic for about a month beginning noon Monday, April 2, to allow for widening and other improvements associated with the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.
The new project-related travel restriction will affect residents and job commuters from Lower Makefield, Upper Makefield, Newtown and points west. It also will affect golfers who use the thoroughfare to access the Makefield Highlands Golf Club from the I-95/Taylorsville Road interchange (Exit 51).

The full schedule of Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project travel restrictions for the week of April 1 are as follows:
Pennsylvania side
- I-95 north from the Route 332/Newtown-Yardley interchange (Exit 49) to the Scudder Falls Bridge – Intermittent single-lane travel patterns noon to 6 a.m. (next day) Monday, April 2, and 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Tuesday, April 3, through Friday, April 6.
- I-95 south from the Scudder Falls Bridge to the Route 332/Newtown-Yardley interchange (exit 49) – Intermittent single-lane travel patterns 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. (next day) Monday, April 2, through Friday, April 6.
- Woodside Road (west of Taylorsville Road to around Clearview Drive) – Eastbound traffic only 24/7 beginning noon April 2 and continuing until May 1; posted detours for westbound traffic via Mt. Eyre Road to the north or Dolington Road to the south. (Detour map can be found here)
- Taylorsville Road in vicinity of I-95 – Intermittent single-lane patterns noon to 6 p.m. Monday, April 2, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, to Friday, April 6.
- River Road/Route 32 – Intermittent alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers noon to 5 p.m. Monday, April 2, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 to Friday, April 6.
New Jersey side
- Route 175/River Road on-ramp to I-95 north/I-295 south – OVERNIGHT closure with posted detour 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. (next morning) Monday, April 2, through Friday, April 6. (Detour Map can be found here)
- Route 175/River Road – Intermittent alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers noon to 5 p.m. April 2, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, to Friday, April 6.
Weekends: Easter weekend – A moratorium on project-related travel restrictions will be in effect 6 a.m. Saturday, March 31, to noon Monday, April 2. Aside from the 24/7 westbound travel prohibition on Woodside Road in Lower Makefield, PA, no project-related lane closures are scheduled for the weekend of April 7 and 8.
The aforementioned scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergency, traffic, and equipment/materials mobilization considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and to reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
