EASTON, PA – Single-lane closures in the eastbound and westbound direction are scheduled to be implemented at or near the I-78 Toll Bridge during off-peak daytime hours on Wednesday to Friday of next week.
The travel restrictions are needed for placements of temporary reflective drums and concrete construction barriers. The locations and schedule are as follows:
- I-78 Toll Bridge westbound – two open lanes (one of three lanes closed) 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday; Thursday, June 6; and Friday, June 7.
- I-78 eastbound in New Jersey after the I-78 Toll Bridge – two open lanes (one of three lanes closed between mileposts 0.8 and 3.2) 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5; Thursday, June 6; and Friday, June 7.
Brief travel delays are possible. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds when approaching lane-closure taper points and exercise caution traveling through active work zones.
The travel restrictions are part of a year-long roadway rehabilitation and security improvement project along the Commission’s I-78 jurisdiction in Williams Township, PA. and portions of Phillipsburg, Alpha, and Pohatcong, N.J. The highway and bridge segment carried a daily average of 63,700 vehicles in 2023.
