LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA – Woodside Road between PA Route 32/River Road and the Park-n-Ride lot near the intersection of Taylorsville Road is scheduled to be closed to vehicular traffic 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.
Posted detours will be in effect when the road closure is implemented. Motorists seeking to travel between Taylorsville Road and PA Route 32/River Road will be directed to Mt. Eyre Road to the north or PA Route 332/East Afton Avenue to the south. (CLICK HERE TO VIEW DETOUR MAP)
The Woodside Road closure will allow for the delivery and installation of a pre-constructed pedestrian bridge over the canal in the vicinity of the Commission’s 1799 House trailhead property. The canal towpath segment in the area of the new bridge is currently closed and is expected to remain off limits to the public until the end of the month.
When completed, the new pedestrian bridge will provide a safe connection between the towpath and the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s 1799 House trailhead area and nearby park-and-ride lot off Woodside Road in Lower Makefield, PA.
This link will be integral once all construction on the Scudder Falls Toll Bridge’s shared-use pedestrian/bicycle facility is completed and opened sometime in November.
