PHILLIPSBURG, PA – Travel restrictions for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s I-78 Bridges and Approach Slabs Rehabilitation Project are scheduled to resume next week, starting 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27 along I-78 eastbound in the vicinity of the I-78 Toll Bridge.
The following lane closures are set to be implemented during the week of November 26 along the Commission’s 6.5-mile-long I-78 roadway segment in Pennsylvania and New Jersey:
I-78 Eastbound – from the I-78 approach bridge across Route 611 in Pennsylvania (milepost 77.2) to the Carpentersville Road overpass (milepost 0.5):
- Reduced to single lane (instead of three lanes) 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (next day) Monday, Nov. 27 through Saturday, Dec. 2.
- Reduced to two lanes (instead of three lanes) 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 to Saturday, Dec. 2.
I-78 Eastbound – in the vicinity of the Edge Road overpass (milepost 2.5 to milepost 3.5):
- Reduced to single lane (instead of three lanes) 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (next day) Tuesday, Nov. 28, through Saturday, Dec. 2.
- Reduced to two lanes (instead of three lanes) 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 to Saturday, Dec. 2.
I-78 Westbound – in the vicinity of the I-78 approach bridge across County Route 519 in Pohatcong, N.J. (between mileposts 2.4 and 2.3):
- Reduced to single lane 10 p.m. to 1 p.m. (next day) Tuesday, Nov. 28 through Thursday, Nov. 30.
The scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergency, and traffic considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
Scheduled project work tasks for the week include:
- At the I-78 approach bridge across Route 611 in Pennsylvania and at the I-78 Toll Bridge – saw cutting and eastbound I-78 line striping for approach slab replacements.
- Test pit work along I-78 westbound in New Jersey
- Painting at the Edge Road overpass.
