A second weekend of lane closures are scheduled forthe I-78 Toll Bridge’s two-lane Express E-ZPass toll-collection facility. The travel restrictions are as follows:
- 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, to 5 a.m. Friday, March 28 – both I-78 westbound Express E-ZPass lanes will be shut down for concrete saw-cutting work in the lane that did not undergo replacement work last weekend;
- 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 28 – the Express E-ZPass lane that underwent replacement last weekend will reopen temporarily to handle daytime I-78 westbound traffic;
- 9 p.m. Friday, March 28, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31 – both I-78 westbound Express E-ZPass lanes will be closed for pouring, finishing, and curing of new concrete slabs in the lane that was not replaced last weekend.
The lane closures will allow a Commission contractor to complete replacement of the concrete-slab pavements at the Commission’s 15-year-old Express E-ZPass facility. The highway-speed electronic open-road-tolling point is in Williams Township, PA. and handles I-78 westbound traffic that crosses the toll bridge from New Jersey into Pennsylvania.
I-78 westbound motorists are urged to keep right and reduce speeds to pass through former cash-collection lanes at the tolling point when the Express E-ZPass lanes are closed.
The travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors.
