Motorists might encounter periodic flagger-controlled single-lane traffic restrictions on the Pennsylvania side of the Washington Crossing Toll-Supported Bridge starting Monday, July 7.
A lane closure occasionally will be needed in the vicinity of the narrow two-lane bridge’s Pennsylvania approach so a Commission contractor can erect a new sign gantry. A prior sign structure had to be removed after a tractor-trailer driver attempted to unlawfully cross the weight-restricted bridge from the PA. side in March 2023.
The contractor also will repair/replace portions of the bridge’s PA-approach sidewalk and railings, which were also damaged by the tractor-trailer’s collision with the old sign structure.
The project and related off-peak travel restrictions are expected to continue through the month of July.
