PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – Overnight single-lane travel patterns are scheduled for next week along the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s 4.2-mile segment of I-78 westbound in New Jersey.
The travel restrictions will allow work crews to address a series of deteriorated asphalt joints along I-78 WB between the Route 22/173 interchange (Exit 3) and the I-78 Toll Bridge at the Delaware River. The highway segment, which is owned and maintained by the Commission, passes through portions of Phillipsburg, Alpha and Pohatcong. All work is being conducted during overnight hours, when traffic volumes are lowest. Travel impacts, if any, should be minor.
Next week’s project-related travel restrictions are as follows:
- I-78 WB beginning near the 5.8-mile marker (NJDOT jurisdiction) and extending west to the toll bridge – reduced to a single lane (two of three lanes closed) 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. (next day) Monday, June 22, through Thursday, June 25. Note: The overnight period beginning late Friday, June 26 will be utilized in the event any of the four previously mentioned scheduled work dates have to be cancelled.
The scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergency, and traffic considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
