LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA – Due to the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, a limited set of travel restrictions are expected to be utilized for the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project during the week of November 18.
The full schedule of project-related travel restrictions for the week follows:
Pennsylvania side
- I-295 EB & WB in the vicinity of the Scudder Falls Bridge – Intermittent single-lane travel patterns possible during off-peak/overnight hours for construction along I-295 on the NJ side of the Scudder Falls Bridge Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20.
- Taylorsville Road north of I-295 – Intermittent single-lane patterns with possible flagger-controlled travel 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20.
- Taylorsville Road south of I-295 – Intermittent single-lane patterns with possible flagger-controlled travel 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20.
- Woodside Road (west of Taylorsville Road to around Clearview Drive) – Right or left lane closures with passage maintained in each direction and/or flagging-controlled travel 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20.
- PA Route 32/River Road – Intermittent stoppages and alternating traffic controlled by flaggers 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20.
New Jersey side
- I-295 NB/WB (old I-95 SB) approaching the Scudder Falls Bridge Pennsylvania-bound – Intermittent single-lane travel patterns 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. (next day) Monday, Nov. 19, and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Tuesday, Nov. 20.
- I-295 EB/SB (New Jersey-bound/old I-95 NB) crossing the Scudder Falls Bridge into New Jersey – Intermittent single-lane travel patterns 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20.
- Route 175/River Road – Intermittent alternating single-lane travel may be implemented approximately 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend Travel Period – Travel restrictions will be suspended in the project area from 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, to noon, Monday, Nov. 26.
Weekend of Nov. 17-18: Lane closures and single-lane alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers are possible in the vicinity of the Taylorsville-Woodside roads intersection in Lower Makefield 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.
Also, two detours are scheduled on the upstream side of I-295/NJ Rte. 29 interchange (Exit 76) 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18; the I-295 NB off-ramp to Rte. 29 NB & SB (DETOUR MAP CAN BE FOUND HERE) and the on-ramp from Rte. 29 NB (DETOUR MAP CAN BE FOUND HERE). The ramp closures/detours will allow I-295 NB to be shifted into a new alignment on the New Jersey side of the Scudder Falls Bridge.
The aforementioned scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergency, traffic, and equipment/materials mobilization considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and to reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
