EWING, NJ – The barricaded portion of the Delaware & Raritan Canal towpath on the New Jersey side of the Scudder Falls (I-95) Bridge will be reopened to the public on Friday afternoon, Sept. 1, just in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced today.
The affected towpath segment has been closed since August 23. The closure was implemented for public safety reasons so the work crews could performed a series of tasks using cranes and other heavy equipment in close proximity to the towpath.
The towpath is expected to reopen 5 p.m. Friday, enabling public use during the Labor Day holiday weekend. The towpath will remain open after the busy recreational weekend as additional project-related closure periods are not anticipated during the next several weeks.
