The I-78 Toll Bridge's Express E-ZPass toll collection facility is scheduled to be restricted to a single travel lane (one of two lanes open) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 23.

The toll collection facility is accessible from the left westbound lane after crossing the I-78 Toll Bridge into Pennsylvania.

The travel restriction will enable a Commission engineering consultant to conduct measurements and other activities related to planning and design of future all-electronic tolling facility.

The lane closure is subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors.

Off-Peak Daytime Westbound Left-Lane Closure Scheduled for Delaware Water Gap (I-80) Toll Bridge Monday, Apr. 30

Pennsylvania-bound traffic on the Delaware Water Gap (I-80) Toll Bridge will be restricted to a single travel lane (one of two lanes open) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 30.

The off-peak daytime lane closure will enable Commission engineering consultants to conduct measurements and other activities associated with the design and planning for a future open-road all-electronic tolling facility at the bridge.

I-80 westbound motorists approaching the bridge are urged to reduce speeds, exercise caution, and allow additional time to reach their destinations.

Minor travel delays are possible.

The scheduled travel restriction is subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors.

Westbound Single-Lane Travel Restriction at Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) Toll Bridge Scheduled for Monday to Thursday, Apr. 20-23

Pennsylvania-bound traffic scheduled to be restricted to a single travel lane (one of two westbound lanes open) on the Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) Toll Bridge 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday, Apr. 20-23.

The lane closure is needed so Commission engineering consultants can conduct ultra-sonic testing on the bridge's pin connections.

Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution.

Flagger-Controlled Alternating Single-Lane Travel Scheduled for Upper Black Eddy-Milford Bridge Monday to Wednesday, Apr. 20-22

The Commission's biennial bridge inspections process will shift to the Upper Black Eddy-Milford Toll-Supported Bridge during the week on Apr. 19.

Accordingly, flagger-controlled alternating single-lane travel is scheduled to be implemented at the bridge from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday to Wednesday, Apr. 20-22.

Motorists could encounter traffic stoppages and travel delays whenever the bridge is reduced to a single-lane with alternating traffic.

The Commission urges motorists to plan ahead and anticipate travel delays during off-peak daytime hours at the bridge.

Motorists are advised to reduce speeds, exercise caution, and follow flagger instructions.

The schedule is subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors.

The bridge gets inspected every two years in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards. The structure was last inspected in 2024.

Four-Hour-Long Washington Crossing Bridge Vehicle Lanes Closure Set for Tuesday, Apr. 21

The Washington Crossing Toll-Supported Bridge is scheduled to be shut down to all vehicular traffic between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 21.

The temporary traffic closures will enable Commission maintenance forces to execute a series of tasks at the narrow, aging bridge:

  • Reseat a loose steel-grate roadway section on the bridge’s Pennsylvania side;
  • Repaint the bridge’s centerline; and
  • Patch and recoat the bridge’s New Jersey approach roadway surface.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes while the bridge’s roadway is temporarily out of service.  The two closest river bridges are the Scudder Falls (I-295) Toll Bridge 2.5 miles to the south, and the New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge 6.9 miles to the north.

The bridge’s pedestrian walkway will remain open.

Scudder Falls Toll Bridge Walkway Closed Mondays thru Thursdays until Memorial Day Weekend

The start date for 96-hour-long weekday closures of the Scudder Falls (I-295) Toll Bridge’s 0.86-mile-long Shared-Use Path for pedestrians and bicyclists sicheduled be closed for 96-hour-long periods on a weekly basis until the Memorial Day Weekend.

Closures of the bridge's walkway will begin early on Mondays and continue until early Friday mornings. The walkway is expected to be reopened for use on weekends.

The weekly closures will enable a Commission contractor to remove and replace the uneven puddle-prone polyester polymer concrete (PPC) surface along the bridge’s elevated walkway surface.

The bridge walkway facility’s entry points will be blocked at the Delaware & Raritan Canal’s rail trail on the New Jersey side and the Delaware Canal towpath on the Pennsylvania side.

Affected bicyclists and pedestrians are urged to use the Calhoun Street Bridge walkway to the south or the Washington Crossing Bridge walkway whenever the Scudder Falls facility is closed. Bikes must be walked across the walkways at those two alternate crossings.

Single Travel Lanes, Width Restrictions in Effect at New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge until Further Notice

The New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge is restricted to single travel lanes in each directions with a 10-foot width restriction in the southbound (Pennsylvania-bound) direction and an 11-foot width restrictions in the northbound (New Jersey-bound) direction.

The travel restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.

A Commission contractor is in the process of removing the former cash-collection toll plaza at the bridge. The Contractor will then erect an open-road cashless all-electronic tolling gantry in approximately the same location. The project also will involve repairs and improvements to the bridge’s Pennsylvania abutment.

Route 202 motorists approaching the bridge are urged to reduce speeds, prepare for lane shifts, observe size restrictions, and exercise caution.
