New Jersey-Bound Width Restriction, Single-Lane Travel Remains in Effect at New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge

The New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge remains restricted to single travel lanes in each direction with an 11-foot width restriction in the northbound (New Jersey-bound) direction.

Several new traffic patterns also have gone into effect since a new open-road all-electronic tolling gantry came online on the Pennsylvania-side of the bridge on June 24. (Note: tolls are assessed only in the southbound (PA-bound) direction.

The new temporary travel restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.

A Commission contractor is in the process of removing the last remaining section of a former cash-collection toll plaza at the bridge. The contractor also reconstructing remaining portions of the bridge's Pennsylvania approach to establish a straightened four-lane route (two lanes in each direction) at the location. The contractor alson continutes to make repairs and improvements to the bridge’s Pennsylvania abutment.

Route 202 motorists approaching the bridge are urged to reduce speeds, prepare for lane shifts, exercise caution, and observe size restrictions in the northbound direction.

Note: A roughly year-long 10-foot width restriction in the southbound direction expired on June 14. The southbound direction now has 12-foot lane width.

Daytime Closure of Scudder Falls Toll Bridge Shared-Use Path Added for Friday, June 25

The Scudder Falls Toll Bridge Shared-Use Path is scheduled to be closed an additional day this week -- from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 26.

The additional closure makes up for the lost work day due to rain on Tuesday, June 23.

Friday's daytime closure period will enable a Commission contractor to conduct powerwashing and other clean up activities along the newly resurfaced facility.

Pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to plan ahead.

The closest river crossing points for pedestrians are the Calhoun Street Toll-Supported Bridge 4.8 miles to the south and the Washington Crossing Toll-Supported Bridge 2.5 miles to the north.  (Note: The walkways at these alternate river crossing points are significantly narrower than the 10-foot-wide Scudder Falls Shared-Use Path. Bicyclists must dismount and walk their bikes across the walkways at these other two bridges.)
