FRENCHTOWN, NJ – The Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Toll-Supported Bridge is scheduled to be closed to all vehicular traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday, Nov. 17, to Friday, Nov. 21, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) announced today.
Affected motorists are urged to use the Upper Black Eddy-Milford Toll-Supported Bridge 3.3 miles upstream as an alternate river-crossing route when the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge is closed to traffic.
The upcoming weekday daytime Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge travel restrictions are needed so a Commission contractor and its sub- contractors can complete remaining bridge-rehabilitation-project work before the winter holidays in December. The bridge, which turned 94 years old in October, has been undergoing a comprehensive rehabilitation since earlier this year.
The Commission urges motorists to plan ahead for the upcoming traffic detours by allowing additional time to reach their destinations when the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown crossing is closed to traffic. The scheduled traffic detours are subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors. (Note: The bridge’s walkway will remain open during the daytime weekday traffic closure periods.)
