PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – The I-78 Toll Bridge’s westbound span is scheduled to be reduced to two open travel lanes (one of three lanes closed) 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 24, to Friday, June 28.
The daytime off-peak travel restriction will allow work crews to install conduit and junction boxes associated with security camera improvements now underway along at the bridge.
Brief travel delays are possible at the bridge’s I-78 westbound approach in New Jersey. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds when approaching lane-closure taper points and exercise caution traveling through active work zones. Schedule is subject to change dues to weather, emergencies, etc.
The travel restrictions are part of a year-long roadway rehabilitation and security improvement project along the Commission’s I-78 jurisdiction in Williams Township, PA. and portions of Phillipsburg, Alpha, and Pohatcong, N.J. The highway and bridge segment carried a daily average of 63,700 vehicles in 2023.
