PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s 4.2-mile I-78 westbound roadway segment is scheduled to be restricted to a single lane during overnight hours next week.
A single-lane pattern (two of three lanes closed) is expected to be in effect 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. (next day) Monday, June 29, through Wednesday, July 1 along I-78 WB beginning from approximately a mile before the Routes 22/173 interchange (Exit 3) to the I-78 Toll Bridge. The highway segment passes through portions of Phillipsburg, Alpha and Pohatcong.
The travel restriction will enable a contractor to repair/rehabilitate asphalt longitudinal joints between lanes along the roadway segment. The work is being conducted at night when traffic volumes are lowest.
The scheduled lane closures are subject to change due to weather, emergency, and traffic considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
